As Employees of the City of Paris Kentucky Police Department, our mission is to serve, educate and protect the public through community collaboration, problem recognition, problem resolution and police action. In carrying out our mission, we must work with our community as a team to ensure that the citizens of Paris are provided the best protection and service we can give them and to establish the Paris Police Department as the finest in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the United States of America.

statements and have attempted to illegally obtain money from unsuspecting people. You are encouraged to

Is my child involved in a gang?

A combination of these warning signs may indicate possible gang involvement.

·                     Live in high-risk neighborhood (unemployment, high homeless rate, strong ethnic community, few recreational facilities)

·                     Sudden change in friends

·                     Change of appearance (wearing gang clothing, unusual haircuts, tattoos, unusual eyebrow markings)

·                     Showing no interest in school (decline in grades, not active in other school related acitivities)

·                     Skipping school

·                     Disrespect toward authority, family, and school (resentful of authority, bad attitude)

·                     Frequent negative confrontations with the law

·                     Withdrawal from family activities

·                     Desire for excessive privacy

·                     Staying out later than usual (or staying out all night)

·                     Evidence of increased substance abuse

·                     Having unusually large amounts of money

·                     Identifying with martial arts

·                     Using unknown vocabulary, gang slang, speaking in fractured sentences, excessive swearing

·                     Using hand signals

·                     Using a new nickname

·                     Drawing graffiti symbols and names on books, folders, on bedroom walls

·                     Unusual pen marks, bruises, or burns on arms, hands, and body

·                     Asking for or stealing money

·                     Extravagant spending

 

 

 

Officer Brandon Doughman and Vadar

 

The Paris Police Department welcomes its newest member to the force in the K-9 Division. Vadar is a replacement for Hercules who retired recently after serving with his handler Chris Livingood, whom he now resides.

 

Officer Brandon Doughman and Vadar are graduates of the Canine Academy Training Center in Leander, Texas. Established in 1990, the Canine Academy Training Center is a complete training facility offering Police and fire training and obedience classes. The academy is licensed by the DEA and the Texas Department of Public Safety Controlled Substances Board for possession of controlled substances. Vadar was pre-trained by the Academy in narcotics, patrol and tracking by Master Trainer Joe Torres who has 10 years experience in law enforcement with 8 of that as a handler. Officer Doughman attended a three week Handler’s Course at the Academy where the team was certified, passing a certification test and Officer Doughman’s written exam.

 

Crime Scene Unit

The Paris Police Department’s C.S.U. was introduced in 2007. This crime scene vehicle is fully equipped to handle the task of collecting evidence in nearly every type of crime scene, traffic accident or fire and arson investigation. The Detectives of the Paris Police Department are fully trained in evidence collecting and chain of custody. On fire investigations they are assisted by an eight member investigation team from the Paris Fire Department. The Crime Scene Investigation Team is headed by Detective Lieutenant Jeffrey L. Lizer.

 

Special Response Team

In 2007 the Paris Police Department developed an elite group known as the Special Response Team to handle situations which include; serving high risk warrants, hostage situations, school shootings and other high risk cases. The Special Response Team is headed by Narcotics Detective Robert Puckett.
