The City of Paris Police Department's sixth class of the Citizens Police Academy. This is an exciting program being put together by the men and women of the Paris Police Department.

The academy will start on February 1st, 2007. It will meet for classes every Thursday night for nine weeks from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. The Academy will graduate on April 13th 2006.

The Citizen Police Academy will focus on the internal values, philosophy, and operations of the Paris Police Department. Designed for citizens, the academy educates participants about the Paris Police Department with an overview of law enforcement in general.

A wide variety of topics are included in the Citizens Police Academy. Patrol operations, criminal investigations, internal affairs, discipline, drug enforcement, and other topics are covered in the program. Participants will also receive and orientation in firearms, and will ride with a police officer on patrol.

The 1st Citizen's Police Academy was held in February of 2002 with approximately 18 participants. It has been held in February of each year with approximately 15 to 20 participants in each class.

It was started to help the citizens of Paris and Bourbon County understand the daily operations of the Police Department. The Academy runs 8 to 9 weeks and the classes are taught by members from the Paris Police Department.

Citizen's Police Academy Alumni Association

The Citizen's Police Academy Alumni Association, (CPAAA) was organized in January 2005, after several organizational meetings in November 2004, with members of the Citizen's Police Academy (CPA).

The CPAAA was formed, to bring graduates of the CPA Classes together to generate or enhance a relationship between the community and the Paris Police Department, and to assist when citizen's input or help is needed.

Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at the Paris Police Department at 7:00 p.m. Membership is open to all members of the CPA Classes.

If you are a member of one of the CPA Classes, we encourage you to attend and be a part of this Alumni Association.

For more information on the CPAAA, you can contact Patty H. Carpenter 1-859-987-4993, or one of the Alumni members.

For more information on future classes, check the local newspaper for dates and times or keep checking this webpage.
